Wow! This is so cool!
A remastered video of Pope Leo XIII surfaced online depicting incredible detail of this first-ever live-action video of a Pope.
After inventor William Kennedy Dickson developed early motion picture technology, he captured these moving images at the Vatican in 1896. Pope Leo XIII was 86 years old.
It also captures the first papal blessing ever filmed on video.

The video’s caption reads, “The earliest-born person ever (born in 1810) captured on film in 1896. Swipe through these colorized clips to see Pope Leo XIII, head of the Catholic Church from 1878 until his death in 1903, going about his daily activities.
“Although the initial source states he was the earliest born person to be captured of film, this is extremely hard to verify.”
